On a computer, the Instagram website won’t let you right-click and save a video. You don’t need a browser extension or a program for it either: copy the post address, paste it here, and the file goes to your Downloads folder.

Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Opera on Windows, macOS, Linux and Chromebook.

How to download in three steps

    Copy the address

    Open the post on instagram.com and copy the URL from the address bar (Ctrl+L then Ctrl+C, or ⌘L then ⌘C on Mac).

    Paste it here

    Click the box above, press Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac) and then Enter.

    Click Download

    Files go to your Downloads folder. Carousels can be saved as one ZIP.

Keyboard-friendly

The whole page works without the mouse: paste with Ctrl+V, press Enter to fetch, Tab to move between the download buttons and Enter to save. The address bar then shows a short fastdl.now link you can bookmark or send to a colleague.

Why not a browser extension?

Extensions that download from Instagram usually need permission to “read and change all your data on instagram.com” — including your messages. A web page doesn’t get any access to your account, which is the safer trade.

Where do the files go on Windows?

Into your Downloads folder (C:\Users\you\Downloads) unless you set a different one in your browser.

Can I choose where to save each file?

Yes. Right-click the Download button and choose “Save link as…”, or turn on “Ask where to save each file” in your browser settings.

Does it work on a school or work Chromebook?

Yes, as long as fastdl.now and instagram.com aren’t blocked by your administrator.
